Focused on Client Needs

For more than three decades, our modular team has built its reputation as a market leader in delivering high-quality, modern and bespoke modular solutions. Combining a team of specialists, we provide clients with end-to-end modular solutions to ensure seamless project delivery, from initial feasibility and cost planning to design, manufacturing, site preparation, transportation, installation, landscaping, civil works, and fitout.

With multiple manufacturing facilities across Australia, we specialise in building a diverse range of prefabricated solutions for clients across the education, healthcare, government, community infrastructure and sporting facilities, defence, accommodation, hospitality sectors, and more.

Smarter Buildings

Modular construction brings all the benefits of manufacturing to traditional construction, with a large part of the process done offsite. This supports faster project delivery, improved safety, exceptional quality control, minimal on-site disruption, and delivers more sustainable outcomes. Adopting non-traditional construction methodologies and new technologies allows us to overcome the toughest of construction challenges and unlock greater value for our clients.

Our History

K.L. Modular Systems Aust (or KLMS) was founded in Kinglake, Victoria in 1987, focused on the design and manufacture of modular buildings for the education and local government sectors. Under the helm of owners, Sue Rolland and Geoff Marshall, who purchased KLMS in 2010, the business built its reputation as a market leader in providing high-quality, modern, and custom modular buildings for a range of clients. In 2022, SHAPE acquired KLMS to accelerate its growth into the modular construction market. Bringing together the best of both business, KLMS merged with SHAPE in 2024, boosting our service nationally and delivering greater value for our clients.

Design Possibilities

We offer a range of design services that are uniquely tailored to our clients; there is no one-size-fits-all approach. We can draw on our historical catalogue of work for quick implementation or customise these designs to fit specific requirements. Additionally, our design team have the capability to modularise traditional construction designs to suit offsite construction methods and transportation restrictions. We work closely with our clients and involve them in the design process to ensure alignment and that each project receives a bespoke, intelligent solution that combines efficiency with flexibility.

Manufacturing & Distribution Capabilities

With manufacturing facilities spanning across Victoria and South Australia, we offer nationwide transportation and installation services. Leveraging on SHAPE’s national footprint, we rely on the support of our local construction services teams to provide support and project management services locally. This integrated approach ensures control and predictability throughout the manufacturing, logistics, and installation process, resulting in smooth and efficient project execution.

Modular construction can be delivered 50% faster and costs reduced by 20% compared to a conventional build.
